In the beginning the hope was to get people interested and involved in helping people in need one on one, specifically those fighting poverty and oppression. This happened for a bit and as people heard the idea they got excited. Being the individual blessed in carrying out the vision I was enthusiastic to say the least, after-all we had a trendy name and logo. VENOM - INFLICT LOVE.
As time passed and people joined in the vision grew beyond what I imagined possible. An entertainment company, a clothing line, a school system...you name it, we dreamt it and all with the intent of helping impoverished and oppressed people of the world. While the vision for all this remains, the amount of work in achieving it has become more startling than I first envisioned.
With time the people involved began finding themselves interested in other venues and I can't blame them. After all Venom was my "baby" and it was difficult finding people as deeply engraved in the ideas and vision no matter how much I shared.
While I originally envisioned Venom to represent something individuals would desire to be apart of, quickly becoming involved and helping...much like say Invisible Children...I learned with time this is not what I want. When people see Venom and hear the term Inflict Love I want it to be something rooted deeper, something that stirs in them an uneasiness and an uncertainty as they rethink the difficulty of real, genuine love.
So may this logo become more than a benchmark in marketing instead impressing upon individuals a deep awakening of the time and persistence required for love.
